Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series

The Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series is a national, points based competition open to all permanent ANDRA license holders for participants in Groups Two, Three and Four. Referred to as sportsman classes.

Posting over $50,000 in end of season prize money, Summit Racing Equipment are keen supporters of sportsman racing.

Luke Cartledge beat all comers for the 60 foot Rising Star Award at Alice Springs Inland Dragway during last weekend’s Desert Nationals. Cartledge had a race package (reaction time plus amount over dial in) of 0.053 in the second round, and this was enough for him to hold onto the prize from eventual bracket winner Hayley Mackay. The 60foot Rising Star Award is presented at each round of the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship and includes a plaque and prize pack for the winner featuring a 60foot hoodie, shirt, hat and stickers. For more information about the 60foot clothing range, head to pic credit to David Hope.

Family ties are an integral part of the sport of drag racing and in Australia’s ‘red centre’ it is no different.

The Territory Tremor Funny Car team is hoping for a performance off the Richter scale at Alice Springs Inland Dragway when they take part in the Desert Nationals on June 28-29.

With the change to a calendar year season, the period after the Fuchs Winternationals has now become a hotbed of activity for drag racing, particularly in regional areas.

This June and July sees two first time events on the ANDRA calendar, the Desert Nationals at Alice Springs Inland Dragway and the Benaraby Nationals at Benaraby Raceway, just outside of Gladstone. Both are rounds of the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship.

These events mark a great opportunity for both locals to earn points in the national championship and for travelling racers to compete at venues they may not have seen before and enjoy the regional racing experience.

Early bird entries for Alice Springs are open until 31 May, with the normal entry period ending 15 June and late entries ending 22 June. Thanks to funding from the NT Government, this event will be televised on SBS Speedweek. For Super Sedan racers it may be very much worth the tow, with a $10,000 shoot out being run!

Nominations for the Benaraby Nationals close on July 7 and with the track just a half a day drive from Brisbane, makes for a great opportunity for Queensland racers especially to score some extra Aeroflow points.
