It was another record setting weekend as Australia’s best Sportsman racers battled it out at Benaraby Raceway and Adelaide International Raceway in a double dose of Drag Racing action.
Two new 1000 feet records were set at the Benaraby Nationals while 10 records fell at the Fuchs Spring Nationals in Adelaide.
In Benaraby, Jason Simpson took home the Silver Christmas Tree in Super Comp setting both ends of the G/GA records in the process. Simpson edged the previous records of 6.91 and 147.00 mph to new highs of 6.762 and 150.98 mph.
Super Comp Spring Nationals winner Craig Geddes reset both ends of the E/DA class surpassing the previous 6.25 elapsed time and 159.00 mph mark with a 6.211 ET and 163.19 mph.
Returning to the BB/FCA class for the remainder of the season, Alistair McClure destroyed the old marker of 5.61 and 190.00 mph to re-establish both records at 5.528 seconds and 197.75 mph.
Daniel Camilleri made a triumphant return to racing after his incident at Calder Park earlier in the year by resetting the DD/GA elapsed time record of 6.55 with a 6.437 second pass.
The A/MPA records of 6.94 and 149.00 mph took a hit as George Sardelis powered to new marks of 6.907 and 150.20 mph respectively.
And finally Jim Ioannidis is the new holder of the B/MSA mph record surpassing the previous mark 131.00 mph by reaching 132.10 mph.
Congratulations to all six teams on another record-breaking weekend.
