Last weekend at the 2014 X-Champs, the Spinozzi Racing team made it through to the Pro Stock final round, scoring the runner up trophy against Aaron Tremayne.

Prior to making the team’s first final round appearance, the team defeated Bill Perdekaris in the opening round with an elapsed time of 7.082 seconds, the quickest that the team had run with the Camaro since Michael Marriott joined the team in February this year.

In the second round, Spinozzi Racing were scheduled to face off against defending event champion, Lee Bektash, however Bektash was unable to front giving the team a bye run into the semi-finals.

The four cars that made the semi-finals were Emilio Spinozzi, Jason Grima, Rick Chilton and Aaron Tremayne. Spinozzi and Chilton would be in one match-up and Grima and Tremayne in the other. ESpinozzi defeated Chilton, running a time of 7.15 seconds.

The final round saw Aaron Tremayne take the win with a 7.01 to a 7.20.

“It was the first time that the Terra Civil, Hitachi Camaro Pro Stocker had gone past first round, so I was not expecting it this meeting, but things were going our way and I had to quickly put on my race face and do my best to get the job done, the team did an awesome job between rounds and we had a ball doing it” said Spinozzi.

Coming into the event, the team knew that they were down on power, due to issues found in testing earlier in the week, hence, focus went onto the car setup to enable the team to perform as best they could.

Spinozzi Racing thanked Rino Conte and the team at RC Performance Engines in Adelaide for all the hard work in preparation for 2014 FUCHS Winternationals.

“I’m really pleased with the results that the team produced over the weekend; we’re surrounded by a close knit team. My first aim with the car was to get the car consistent and we proved that in qualifying when we made two good runs, 7.13 and 7.12 seconds, placing the team in sixth position, considering that we only had two qualifying sessions due to inclement weather,” said Michael Marriott.
