Whyalla Steel City Drag Club is now ready to race again.

The club as previously mentioned has ripped up their old track to relay a new track to be able to keep racing safely and competitively in accordance with ANDRA requirements.

  • 550 cubic metres of concrete was poured for the track and the walls.
  • Reinforcing of the walls, some maintenance in the braking area and future work to be done on the return road when funds are replenished a little.
  • New toilet facilities and a new large parking area for competitors and their support vehicles, new improved lighting all around the pit area.

We could not have done such an exceptional job if it was not for all the committed committee members and their helpers.  To the guys and girls that came from out of town weekend after weekend to make this happen, for the guys who came from Adelaide to give up their weekends to help we cannot thank you enough, they only way we know how is to get you out on a fabulous new and safe track to race on.

To the local business that donated time, money and labour,

And a HUGE thanks to NDMA (Northern Drag & Motorsport Association) which is based 90km away in Port Augusta.  The  members of this club lent an amazing amount of money to the club so we could get the concreting completed. These guys and girls are also super keen to  keep motorsport alive in regional areas.  These guys would also love to be able to build their own Motorsport complex at Port Augusta in the future but in the mean time we willing to put up the cash required to keep the dream alive until this can become a reality.

So if there is anyone lounging around on the weekend of the 4th of December head over to Whyalla SA and have a look or even better have a run of their Brand New Track, all the hard work, sweat and tears have been worth it so come out and support the local Drag Racing in Regional SA.
