After consultation with local weather experts, Willowbank Raceway and Jamboree promoter – Ray Box – have elected to postpone this weekend’s 21st annual Jamboree until the weekend of October 1-2.

An unusual weather trough – including a great deal of rain – has been predicted for the Willowbank area this weekend and has been confirmed by the Raceway’s weather experts.

It is with regret the event has been moved to the October 1-2 date – however Box feels as though it will give organisers more time to add even further to the spectacle of Jamboree’s 21st birthday event.

“The weather doesn’t look good, it is going to be unpredictable at best,” he said. “It is in all of our best interests to pull the plug now rather than get into a situation whereby the event is underway, competitors and spectators have travelled into town and we have to send them home empty handed.

“It is our 21st birthday bash, so with another few weeks up our sleeve, we have the time to refine what we’ve already planned and add even more to ensure Jamboree continues to be the biggest of it’s type in the world.

“We encourage our fans to keep an eye on the Jamboree website – www.jamboree.com.au for continued updates.”

Jamboree is the biggest high-tech drag racing meet in the world and features not only many of the world’s fastest turbo charged drag racing machines, but a whole host of off track entertainment.

It will now be conducted the weekend of October 1-2, 2011.

The next event at Willowbank Raceway will be the Pro Street meet on September 17.
