ANDRA has achieved another important part of its plans for the future of the sport with Luke Nieuwhof being appointed to the role of Media Manager.
Based in the Adelaide office, Luke's work will incorporate all aspects of communication for the national body. This includes media releases, updates from ANDRA, developing positive opportunities for racers and ANDRA in traditional and social media and expanding the ANDRA website.
ANDRA CEO Greg Humphreys said it was one of the final pieces in the jigsaw for the new structure as ANDRA moves ahead with with exciting plans to reinvigorate the sport.
“Improved communication was identified as our most immediate need in our recent GAP analysis,” Humphreys said. “This means both communication between ANDRA and its members, as well as ANDRA and the media.
“We interviewed a strong field of candidates and decided that Luke’s experience would be of great benefit to ANDRA as it looks to increase awareness of the sport.”
Luke will be making the move to Adelaide after three years as editor of Business Pulse magazine for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia.
Luke comes from a strong drag racing journalism and public relations background, having filled a number of roles within the sport including writing for The West Australian newspaper, issuing media releases on behalf of Perth Motorplex and running websites such as www.dragnews.com.au.
“It’s an exciting role to be able to develop new media opportunities for the sport,” Nieuwhof said. “ANDRA and drag racing are moving in a positive direction and I’m looking forward to communicating some of the great stories our racers have.”
Luke will begin with ANDRA on December 2, in time for the ANDRA Pro Series Top Fuel event in Perth.
The news comes in addition to the recent appointments of Dean Neal, Rob Sharp and Matt Naulty to the broadcast team for the sport.
