More than 170 nostalgia racers are preparing for this Saturday’s Cruzin Magazine Nostalgia Drags at Willowbank Raceway.
Willowbank Raceway managing director Steve Bettes said he couldn’t be happier with the show of support from the nostalgia community.
“This is the first nostalgia outing to be held at our track since we took over the management of these events and we are just ecstatic with the support that both the racers and the sponsors have shown us,” said Bettes.
“We are very proud of what we have already been able to achieve already and of what we have planned, it is so satisfying to see the racers endorse the changes we have made so far by rallying behind this event.”
Action will be aplenty both on and off the track come February 25.
“Everyone has a place in their hearts for the ‘racers of old’ I think, and next weekend at Willowbank Raceway is going to be a fantastic chance for enthusiasts to come and see them in action,” said Bettes.
“There is something for all the family with the Shannons Insurance Show & Shine, trade stands and of course all the on-track thrills – including a testing and licensing appearance by Paul Shackleton’s Nostalgia Funny Car. (pictured above)
“Shackleton’s impressive 1970 Mach 1 Mustang with a 496 inch nitro-burning V8 will be piloted by Robert West in a number of test runs for the spectators.
“With children 13 and under free gaining free entry and so many racers on board, it is shaping up to be a great day out!”
Willowbank Raceway has also confirmed the date for its second Nostalgia hit-out for 2012. To be held over two days, the event will feature a Super Swap meet alongside the on-track action across the 11th and 12th of August 2012.
