(Track News) After coming on board as the major naming sponsor of the 2022 Supercharged Shootout held at the Mildura Sunset Strip, Atlantic Oils have re-committed as the Naming Rights partner for the 2023 event to be held at Easter next year.

Sunraysia Drag Racing Association’s president Kingsley Kuchel said the journey to try and secure Atlantic Oils as a major partner for the Easter Shootout began at the beginning of January this year where he was introduced to Suzanne Lazar. It was certainly an uncharted territory for both parties but was clear early on that the relationship between Atlantic Oils and SDRA was going to be a positive one.

Atlantic Oils relationship to Drag Racing has been predominantly sponsoring Sydney Dragway and playing an important part to Rapisarda Autosport International and their two Top Fuel Dragsters as well as sponsoring Darryl Stephen’s Pro Stock cars plus his sportsman cars, Paul Stephen’s Supercharged Outlaw Altered and John Wilard’s Worlds Fastest Supercharged Outlaw Anglia.

Being able to bring Atlantic Oils to not just the Sunset Strip but the town of Mildura was certainly an exciting adventure and one that we hope to be able to grow and continue on into the distant future.

Being that Easter is the biggest weekend in Mildura for the year there was no better time to fly the Atlantic Oils banner in the region. For Suzanne it was her first time coming to Mildura and seeing what happens in the area at Easter time and thankfully we didn’t disappoint. The Good Friday Show ‘n’ Shine had a record crowd this year and saw over 15,000 people venture around the display over the day.

SDRA President Kingsley Kuchel said “it was fantastic to see such a huge crowd come to the Good Friday Show ‘n’ Shine especially after the last few years of covid really having a huge impact not just for our club but the region and what a way to introduce Atlantic Oils to Mildura but to have thousands standing around two Supercharged Outlaws sponsored by Atlantic Oils as they were fired for the annual 11am fire up.

Atlantic Oils stated the range of activities including the car show on Good Friday in the main street of Mildura, with the team cars of Paul and Darryl Stephen representing the Atlantic brand convinced Suzanne Lazar, Drag Racing Sponsorship Manager for Atlantic Oils, to commit to the 2023 event.

“The event as a whole exceeded our expectations, and we had such a great time that shortly after the event we began talks of sponsoring the event in 2023”, Suzanne said. “The atmosphere was great, and it was fantastic to have such great support at a regional country track like the Mildura Sunset Strip”.

Now more than ever it was important to SDRA to try and re build it self and get some new sponsors on board to begin the recovery post Covid 19 and to secure such a major sponsor such as Atlantic Oils was a breath of fresh air, we tried to make everything as easy as possible and really worked hard to show that the support of Atlantic Oils was hugely important.

The 2023 Atlantic Oils Easter Supercharged Shootout will be held on April 8th, 2023 at the Mildura Sunset Strip.
