The South Coast Nationals at South Coast Raceway delivered two days of ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship on-track action across the weekend, with plenty of record-breaking performances along the way.

Four new national ANDRA records were set at the December 7-8 event, as follows:

  • Joe Khoury – new VV/CB – Competition Bike ET record – 5.200 seconds (was 5.400)
  • Joe Khoury – new VV/CB – Competition Bike speed record – 138.84mph (was 120.00mph)

It was a big weekend for Khoury (pictured above on his Harley Davidson Destroyer), who also took home the Top Qualifier Medallion, presented by New Gen Business Park by running a fair bit under the index, marking what he feels is the start of good things to come.

“The bike has been in the makings for three years, so finally getting it to run as well as it has been is pretty good,” Khoury said.

“To be honest, I didn’t think the meeting was going to go ahead with all of the rain Friday night after testing and Saturday’s late start, but they managed to get the track dry and very well prepped, and the bike ran very well.

“We’ve made a lot of changes since the bike arrived here from America. There’s been a lot of dyno time over the last year and a half, with a new Motec computer and new wiring to make it suitable to race here in Australia.

“This is only the bike’s third real outing, and I am absolutely happy and stoked. There’s a lot more in it. I think I’ll be breaking a few more records with it once I get it totally sorted out.

“We plan to do as many events as we can. We’re going to do The Bend and Mildura again and just keep chipping away at it.

“I’d also like to thank my sponsor, Twin Tune Performance, for their continued support and Nathan from Connexion Concepts for all the Motec tuning.”
