Phil Lamattina and arch rival Darren Morgan are locked together at the top of the ANDRA points standings after the Santo's Cranes Super 3 Extreme Drag Race at Willowbank Raceway.

While Lamattina’s performances did not meet with the team’s normally high standards, Morgan’s results have meant that he and Lamattina sit atop the ANDRA standings with 487 points.

Lamattina made no excuses about the team’s results in Queensland.

“It was an amazing racetrack, probably the best that we have raced on,” he said. “We didn’t find the right tune-up for such a good racetrack. The team at Willowbank just produced a surface with teeth, now we just have to get the car in right direction to make use of the track conditions.

“Notwithstanding not getting to the finals, it was great to watch Larry Dixon’s Australian record and also well done to ‘The Pom’, he and his crew did a great job getting the car working so consistently. Hat’s off to both teams.”

Lamattina was upbeat about his team’s direction.

“We are still learning some tricks at every meeting and Aaron (Hambridge) is working through what the car needs,” he said. “We are looking to improve every time we go out and we can’t wait to get back to the track. “For the next few events we will be trying some new things both on and off the track. Watch this space.”

The next round of the ANDRA Top Fuel Championship will be at the Nitro Champs at Sydney Dragway on May 3-5.
