One of the few entrants travelling to the 43rd Westernationals from South Australia, Mark Hunt is hoping to build on a personal best time set at Perth Motorplex earlier this month.

Competing in the local track championship round for Supercharged Outlaws at the Pro Showdown, Hunt managed to set an 8.450 as his quickest ET since entering the bracket earlier this year.

Considering “the Huntsman” is running a 1956 Ford Customline-bodied, tube chassis machine still equipped with an original steel body with no fiberglass weighing 3100 pounds; it’s a pure beast.

“We built and started this car in this category so each and every run is a learning experience,” said Hunt. “We have been running our test motor and now that we are comfortable with the way the car runs we are soon replacing the test engine with a much bigger and more powerful engine.”

“We have some big plans for this car in the coming months so keep your eyes out! It’ll be bigger, lighter and faster!”

Hunt was left extremely impressed from his first visit to the Perth Motorplex ensuring he would return for the Westernationals and round three of the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship.

“We found Perth Motorplex to be one of the best tracks we have had the pleasure of racing at. The event was very well organised and we had an amazing time meeting many new friends.”

“After this experience there was no question we would be returning to compete in the Westernationals.”

“I will be travelling over with my crew consisting of David Baines of Baines Engines and my daughter Kirsty and son Luke. A few family and friends will also be travelling over to support us at this event.”

Look out for the big yellow Huntsman in Supercharged Outlaws at the 43rd Westernationals February 28 – March 2, 2014 at Perth Motorplex.
