This week, May 12-18, 2014 is National Volunteer Week across Australia.
Volunteers have a power in today’s society and a drive that enables them to make a true difference in the world – can you imagine what it would be like without them? We invite you to consider this as we celebrate the volunteers powering the wider community.
Drag Racing is no different. Without the valued contributions of volunteers donating their time to officiate, operate the tracks and assist teams on race day, our community of Drag Racing would not exist.
The ANDRA board would especially like to thank all its volunteers and officials who make the sport what it is today and more importantly will take the sport forward into the future.
In keeping with the spirit of National Volunteer Week, ANDRA would like to announce the introduction of the ANDRA Volunteer of the Year Award to be presented at the 2014 Annual Awards Presentation.
ANDRA CEO Malcolm Bulley welcomed the opportunity to recognise the efforts of all volunteers within the sport.
“Volunteers are incredibly important to ANDRA Drag Racing and without their support we would not even have a sport,” he said.
“It doesn’t take much to stop, reflect and thank those who take the tickets, prep the tracks, haul the trailers, tune the vehicles, officiate the events, you name it.”
“Every volunteer deserves an award and it doesn’t take much to say thanks occasionally to these dedicated people. We hope this award goes some way to recognising those efforts for which we are truly grateful.”
ANDRA’s Annual Awards Presentation will take place at the conclusion of the 2014 ANDRA Championship Drag Racing season.
