The numbers have been crunched and re-crunched again. Fourteen records were set at the Australian Nationals held October 31 – November 2 at Sydney Dragway.
Most impressive of all was Lee Bektash in Pro Stock resetting both ends of the National record with a mind-blowing 6.877 elapsed time and a top speed of 200.14 miles per hour to smash the previous best of 6.950, also set by Bektash, and 196.85 mph.
Newly crowned Competition Eliminator Champion Alistair McClure reset the BB/FCA ET record with a 6.394 besting his previous mark of 6.450.
Competition Championship runner up Craig Geddes bested the minimum E/DA marks of 7.500 and 175.00 mph with a new 7.414 and 177.09 mph.
Also in Competition, Lyle Gilmore reached 199.46 mph to break the previous CC/AA speed barrier of 193.13 mph.
And Peter Pisalidis surpassed the AA/APIA speed record of 203.00 mph by reaching 211.23 mph.
Jake Chaisty set new records for H/MSA on his way to the Super Stock Championship with a 9.262 and 145.96 mph to wipe out his previous 9.437 and 141.50 mph.
Shane Moran also reset both ends of the A/APA record with a 7.024 and 196.59 mph up from the previous 7.032 and 195.68 mph.
Jim Ioannidis also set a new mark for B/MSA with a speed of 145.75 mph surpassing the old record of 144.98 mph.
And finally in Competition Bike, Peter Everett recorded a 9.679 ET and 139.82 mph to reset the D/SB records of 9.769 and 139.60 mph.
