Round 1 of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series kicked off in style this past weekend with six 660ft National records smashed at Alice Springs Inland Dragway.
Super Comp was super competitive as all six records were broken in the Group Two bracket.
Reigning Super Stock Champion Steve Norman raced his Chevy Cobalt to a new 5.073 elapsed time and 135.95 mph record for the C/APA class. The previous marks were set at a minimum 5.08 ET and 133.00 mph.
On his way to the event runner up, Kim Fardella set a new speed record for D/G clocking 128.57 mph to surpass Mario Barbon’s 128.06 mph set in Mildura last year.
West Aussie David Dequen also set a new mph record for the E/AA class thanks to a speed of 143.77 mph. That effort knocked off the previous record of 142.83 mph set by Craig Geddes at South Coast Raceway in January 2013.
Geddes won’t mind losing that E/AA speed record as he set new standards for the B/D class on his way to the event win with a 4.615 ET and 148.51 mph after the minimum was set at 4.65 and 146.00 mph.
ANDRA congratulates all four teams on a sensational effort.
The new marks bring the total number of records set at Alice Springs Inland Dragway to a total of 10.
