Following on from the launch of the Tasmanian branch of the Australian Electric Vehicles Association (AEVA) on 15 August, Tas Dragway will be supporting electric vehicles to set an official Tasmanian drag racing record for electric cars, and unofficial National record.
This is to be conducted under the rules and guidelines of the Australian National Drag Racing Association in an effort highlight Tasmania’s standing in renewable energy.
The record attempt will occur at Tas Dragway on Powranna Rd (marked turnoff at Epping Forest 35km south of Launceston) on 29th August between 11am and 12 noon.
All and any road registered vehicles with an exclusively electric source of energy are invited to enter and participate.
Racing will be over the current 1/8 mile race distance and the track is expecting electric vehicles to be highly competitive against the best of the registered performance V8 drag racing cars.
