When the sounds of Jingle Bells have subsided and the turkey and stuffing has been eaten, the roar of engines and the scent of BBQ will fill the air at Calder Park Raceway with the return of the Rowe Memorial Super Stock Classic.
The one-day extravaganza on Sunday December 27 will also double as Round 6 of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series featuring 150 competitors from every State and one Territory battling it out for points, prestige and a different kind of Christmas tree – the ANDRA Silver Christmas Tree trophy.
While Super Stock will take headline status – celebrating category legend Andrew Rowe and his family – Competition Eliminator is set to heat up as Craig Geddes looks to maintain his run of final round appearances in every event contested this season while Shane Baxter, Wayne Cartledge, Mark Newman, Cameron Ambesi and Mike Nola aim for the target on his back.
The other name on the entry list, Craig Russo, will play the spoiler and make the jump from Supercharged Outlaws to Competition following previous success in Group Three.
“Long term ambitions would be to enter into Top Alcohol although we are a self funded team and this won’t be within the near future,” said Russo.
“Over the past 15 months, we have had some success within the Supercharged Outlaws bracket. This has motivated me and my team to start testing within the Comp bracket.
“We decided on this because we have achieved top qualifier within a past event and would like to try something different to see how we can progress.”
Qualifying for the Rowe Memorial begins from 9am Sunday December 27 and eliminations are scheduled from 4pm. For more information please visit www.calderparkdragracing.com.au. For more information about Russo Motorsports, like their Facebook page.
