It was a planned trip East for Western Australian Junior Dragster racer Jasmine Slamar and her family. The purpose of the trip besides having some fun was to pick up some points along the way. We asked Jasmine Slamar to give us a few words following her awesome win at the 2017 ANDRA Australian Nationals
“I am still in shock”, said Jasmine. “Competing against 27 other Junior Dragster racers and taking out the 2017 Australian Nationals has only ever been a dream for me.
“We travelled east with the intentions of having a good couple of rounds, gaining some points and having some fun. Bringing the gold ANDRA Christmas tree home is a dream come true.
“I’ve raced now for four years and only have a few more meets as a Junior Dragster racer before I’m too old. To win the ultimate prize of a gold tree at a National event is something I didn’t think was possible, but I did it.
“I thought racing Michael Naylor, the Australian No.1, in the semi’s was going to be tough. I got the better reaction time, and went on to take the win. I can’t explain how ecstatic I felt.
“Then it was Jake Berias in the final. I was nervous but stayed focused. He red lighted and I got the win! All my hard work had paid off.
“This weekends Goldenstates at Perth Motorplex is going to be another tough round, but I’m definitely up for the challenge. I’m currently second on the Junior Dragster leader board and chasing more points before the Grand Final in Adelaide. My car ran consistently at Calder Park and I’m hoping we can do it again here in my hometown.”
Qualifying starts today with two qualifiers and another two tomorrow.
