ANDRA is pleased to announce that of 40 random drug tests and over 200 random breath tests conducted in 2014, only one positive test has been recorded.
The drug tests were conducted in conjunction with a recognised independent drug program administrator over two major events this season. No positive readings have been recorded.
ANDRA has also conducted in excess of 200 random breath tests over five major events this year. One positive reading was recorded.
In line with the ANDRA substance abuse policy the entrant was excluded from the event and required to surrender their licence. The entrant then undertook formal alcohol counseling prior to regaining competition privileges.
ANDRA Competition Manager Brett Stevens said he was encouraged by the results and hopes the current trend continues.
“As we travel around the country, the feedback from racers is that they appreciate ANDRA are trying ensure the safety of all competitors by drug and alcohol testing,” he said.
“The hot areas at a race track have the potential to be a high risk or dangerous environment and no person should be in these hot areas under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.”
ANDRA is committed to conducting at least 100 random drug tests and further breath testing during the 2014 season across all competitors, teams, officials and staff.
