Local Adelaide Top Alcohol Funny Car team A1 Drag Racing piloted by Gary Busch will welcome the ANDRA Drag Racing Series big guns from interstate with open arms at the Pro Series 1000 on March 14-15, then try to beat them.
Busch is under no illusions given the size challenge of defeating the likes of 16-time ANDRA Top Alcohol champion Gary Phillips and Steven Reed but his team knows the AIR track intimately even though the interstaters have the data to perform.
“When you’re racing against guys like Gary Phillips, Steve Reed, John Cannuli you know that its going to be a tough race and you have to give it all you got,” said Busch.
“With the limited budget we run on it always makes it tough to compete next to these guys but to us nothing is impossible and the whole team will be giving 110 per cent to have the best chance possible.”
Top Alcohol will race over the 1000 feet distance instead of the usual quarter mile. Everyone will have to adjust but Busch is confident he can push the car to new levels and snag a career best.
“Being 1000 feet and with a few changes we have made to the car we are looking for a good weekend ahead with some PB’s for us.
“Everyone has data for this track now but as we all know it can throw you a few surprises, I think the win could go to anyone in the field.”
Top Alcohol is just one of four ANDRA Drag Racing Series brackets alongside Top Doorslammer, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle to headline the VPW Pro Series 1000 at Adelaide International Raceway on the weekend of March 14-15.
The event will also serve as Round 3 of Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series.
