The Central Australian Drag Racing Association have issued the following statement through the CADRA newsletter following the official lighting ceremony at Alice Springs Inland Dragway.
“The Central Australian Drag Racing Association had the pleasure of hosting the Chief Minister, the Hon. Adam Giles MLA when he flew in from Darwin to “flick the switch” and officially turn on our new LED track lights on May 17th.
The Chief’s schedule was tightly packed with his flight arriving at 5.30 pm before immediately being transferred to the Alice Springs Inland Dragway. Upon arrival at the track, Adam had enough time to enjoy a portion of the Supercharge Batteries Burnout Competition Round 2, prior to turning on the lights.
Other highlights included the Chief taking a passenger ride with Super Sedan driver Lenny Cole and the huge burnout performed on the Hardass Burnout Pad as they returned from their 1/4 mile run.
The event was very low-key, with the Chief Minister declining to give a speech.”
It’s great to see the support Drag Racing is receiving from the Government in the Northern Territory and we can’t wait to visit Alice Springs Inland Dragway when the 2015/2016 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series kicks off at the 2015 Desert Nationals July 25-26.
