Rob Cassar is seeking to go out on a high in Competition Bike as part of the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Series before a shift into the professional ranks of the sport.

The Lady Daly Hotel Springnationals takes places at Adelaide International Raceway from September 20-21 and Cassar is hopeful that some positive early qualifying runs at the rained out Fuchs Winternationals bode well.

“While the Winternationals were rained out we came away with some excellent data and track time,” he said. “We gained some ground by testing the week before and found the gremlins that have been haunting us for the last few years.

“With solid runs during qualifying and gradual improvements each time we ran a 7.50 and suspect there is a lot left in it.”

Cassar said he would love to take out the Lady Daly Hotel Springnationals before he moves into Top Bike for Fuchs Nitro Thunder presented by Crow Cams at Calder Park in October.

“The Springnationals is a special meeting for me and one that I would love to win, having done so in Modified Bike in 2000,” he said. “It will also be the last time we run Competition Bike for this season.

“With Calder Park coming back on line we are pumped and will be stepping up and seeing out the season in Top Bike.

“Calder is my home track and I would love to win in front of the home crowd. We have not competed in ANDRA drag racing at Calder since 2001 so we are excited and pleased to have our local sponsors on board.”

Cassar was pleased to announce one of those sponsors will be Powerplus Racing Fuels who have signed on to support them again next season.

“Powerplus have supported the team over the past two seasons and having them on board for what is set to be our most exciting season ever is really fantastic,” he said. “Powerplus specialises in racing fuels and has developed a succession of high performance fuels that have been proven under International race conditions for the Australian market.”
