CHARITIES and youth mentoring organisations are missing out because of stalled negotiations on a proposed motorsport park at Gillman, its backers say.

The Adelaide Motorplex consortium has fought for three years to buy or lease State Government land for the $100 million project, with the initial $25 million stage to include a race circuit, drag strip and business centre.

Victorian Nationals leader Peter Ryan visited Swan Hill's Chisholm Park this week and met with motor sports and Drag Racing Club representatives to discuss the proposed development of the complex including the plans for a ¼ mile drag strip.

andra_logo_150x90The Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) is the controlling body of the sport of drag racing in Australia, delegated by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) and the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

After six years without ANDRA Drag Racing opportunities in Melbourne, ANDRA determined the need and with some help commenced action in 2006 to secure a world class, Government funded drag racing venue in the city, using the model that proved successful for the sport in Sydney and Perth.

David Baker, ANDRA's Technical Consultant has released a technical bulletin about the six (6) new Modified Production classes introduced at the start of the 2008/2009 ANDRA Championship Season to only accommodate Front Wheel Drive vehicles converted to Rear Wheel Drive that had been manufactured overseas and met strict chassis modification allowances.

The ANDRA Rules Submission period is now open. Under section 6.4 of the current ANDRA Rulebook the period for ANDRA Rule Submissions is from September 1st to November 1st every year.

The ANDRA Technical Department wishes to give all racers a little friendly reminder that with the start of the 2010 / 2011 season at the ANDRA Australian Nationals at Sydney Dragway in the next few weeks, racers should check to ensure that all their credentials are fully up to date and valid. This includes their ANDRA Licence, Log Book and Technical Inspection. "Finding that your credentials are out of date, or invalid, at any meeting is the worst feeling",said ANDRA Technical Consultant David Baker, so this reminder may help some racers.
