Thanks for the thoughts and concerns we have received since last week's Queensland Flood Crisis. With tens of thousands of people having lost all their worldly possessions it may take months for things to even seem normal here.

As far as the racer community goes it was hit pretty hard as one could imagine with race cars in sheds etc. Here's an update on our team members and fellow racers that we know about:

A new entry was included in the 2011 ANDRA Rule Book regarding pre event (ANDRA Pro Series rounds) testing by Group One teams. This was an incorrect clause and the following change, effective immediately, has been made to ACR 5.27 on Page 174 of the ANDRA Rule Book.

Round two the MAX CRANES Drag Racing Tri Series will be contested this Sunday,  23/1/11 at the Coonawarra Dragway near Naracoorte SA. With race  day support from RV Trailers and Dragster Australia magazine. All current point score leaders have entered.

This Saturday (22 January) Queensland Raceway will play host to a multi-faceted introduction and information day for motor sport enthusiasts to learn how to become an official for all forms of the sport, from club level to V8 Supercars, Super Bikes and beyond.

With qualifications in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design, plus experience in the aeronautical area, Steve brings some specialist skills to his role, which commences immediately.

Following the success of 2010's Eighth Mile Series, organisers are pleased to announce the series will continue in 2011 complete with a new naming rights sponsor.

The 2011 Queensland Street Car Magazine Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series will take in Willowbank Raceway, Warwick Dragway, Benaraby Dragway and Ironbark Raceway between February and September of 2011, in a three-round plus a final Series structure.

As the news of the devastating floods filter through to us and knowing there are a lot of our friends within the Queensland drag racing community affected, Sydney Dragway will conduct a silent auction at the January 22 Test n Tune event and urges anyone out there in the business community to donate something to the auction. Sydney Dragway will start the ball rolling by donating a 3-day corporate package for two to attend the 2011 Nitro Champs as VIP guests at the end of April.

ALL proceeds of the auction will be going directly to the Qld Premier’s Flood Relief Appeal.
