At a meeting of the ANDRA Ltd Board on the 27th July 2016 a motion was passed to call for nominations for the South Queensland (SQ) Divisional Council.

The Warrnambool and Districts Drag Racing Association AGM will be held 25 August 2016.

Summit Racing Equipment has upped its support for Australian drag racers by extending the Summit Racing Pro Shop to include full ANDRA licence holders.

The Warrnambool and District Drag Racing Association has issued the following update regarding the recent decision by Moyne Shire to withdraw it's support from a permanent drag strip at the old Koroit racecourse.

Michael Fotheringham has advised the Board that he will be standing down from the Board due to work commitments. His term as Chairman will expire at the end of July 2016.

ANDRA wishes to announce Licencing/Membership Officer Leanne Wright will be leaving to pursue new opportunities after over 11 years at the organisation.

Leanne came to ANDRA on a traineeship and has worked her way up to Licencing/Membership Officer.

Racer/Crew Chief Aaron Hambridge and sports media personality Lachlan Wills have joined the ANDRA Drag Racing commentary team on SBS Speedweek.

The second leg of the “Central Swing” was a clean sweep for 9 times Champion John Zappia – Top Qualifying and winning the Desert Nationals in Alice Springs, while picking up Low ET, Top Speed and resetting the track 1/8 mile ET and MPH records.

Earlier this week it was with sadness ANDRA learned of the passing of former South Australian Division Director Harry White.

Harry was a loved member of the drag racing community retiring as SA Division Director in 2012 following 22 years in the position. 

His involvement in drag racing dates all the way back to the early days of racing at Brooksfield Dragway and later Adelaide International Raceway. But what many people may not know is that just prior to getting behind the wheel, Harry was called up to serve in Vietnam. 

Upon his return after serving his country with distinction, Harry played a significant role in the formation and operation of the South Australian Drag Racers Association and spent time with ANDRA as the Executive Director and membership of the National Executive Committee, assisting with the operation of the Australian Drag Racing Promoters Association conferences on numerous occasions.

Sometimes in drag racing you're in the right place at the right time. Other times, you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. Lucas Oil Top Fuel dragster driver Richie Crampton found himself in both positions at the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals on Sunday at Bandimere Speedway.

The Australian National Drag Racing Association will partner with Garmin Australia and their Garmin VIRB series on a new TV and live stream multimedia package for the remainder of the 2016/2017 ANDRA Championship season.

Alice Springs Inland Dragway has hosted a busy day of racing for round two of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series today (Sunday 17 July), with the Desert Nationals winner’s circle hosting Mark Hunt (Supercharged Outlaws), Luke Veersma (Summit Racing Equipment Junior Dragster), Gavin Chisnell (Modified), Leith Darrach (Modified Bike), Graeme Simms (Super Comp), Peter Tzokas (Super Sedan), Jacob Mills (Super Street) and Matt Forbes (Top Sportsman).

John Zappia has clean-swept the Top Doorslammer category at Alice Spring Inland Dragway’s Desert Nationals this weekend - top qualifying and taking the event victory this afternoon (Sunday 17 July) whilst also resetting the track speed (193.97mph) and elapsed time (3.966s) eighth-mile distance records in the process.

Nine-time Champion John Zappia has top qualified for the Desert Nationals today at Alice Springs Inland Dragway, in what is the first ever visit to the venue by any Group One category.
