In the early years of drag racing, it was common to see car clubs and mates get together and pool their resources to go racing. Times may have changed today, however for Queensland mates Savos Pandelakis and Shane Turley, they have partnered up to go racing just like the pioneers did in the 1960’s.

Alice Springs Inland Dragway may be a regional track out in the middle of nowhere, but over the weekend the Shannons Desert Nationals is the biggest drag racing event for ASID, and with some big names in the pits, all eyes and ears were on this great little track as we moved into Day 2 of the Summit Racing Series eliminations.

There was no doubt that the 2017 Shannons Desert Nationals track records would take a beating. With Kelly Bettes (above) driving the Lamattina Top Fuel Racing dragster, and 10 x ANDRA Top Doorslammer Champion in the pits, the fans were in for a treat.

Round 1 of the 2017/2018 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series at Hidden Valley Drag Strip saw lots of eager racers super keen to kick off the new ANDRA season in style. For local Northern Territory Modified racer Grant Radcliffe, he certainly had plenty of that!
