Jason Arbery clinched not only an ANDRA Grand Finals victory and the 2017/2018 Summit Racing Equipment Australian Title in the Top Sportsman ranks at the weekend, but he also was awarded the prestigious John Storm Memorial Trophy.

Commissioned in memory of Mr John Storm, the first National Director of ANDRA, the John Storm Memorial Trophy is an annual national award made to the competitor in Group Two, Three or Four who scores the highest total overall points from all rounds of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series, including the final event.

The final round of the 2017/2018 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series has concluded with celebrations at Adelaide International Raceway with both event and championship winners crowned.

One final day of racing is all that remains for the 2017/2018 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series, with day one of the Grand Finals at Adelaide International Raceway now complete.

More than 170 sportsman racers took to the track for two rounds of qualifying today, with one final session of qualifying to be held for all of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series classes tomorrow morning ahead of eliminations racing in the afternoon.

Defending Modified Bike champion Bryan Finn could make history this weekend (March 23-24) if he can clinch a third consecutive Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series national title.

No less than five racers are in the box seat to take the Top Sportsman title at the final round of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series this weekend (March 23-24).

Amongst them is local racer Greg Damiani. The self-employed farmer from Gawler River in South Australia is looking forward to doing battle on his home-track, but doesn’t feel like he can expect any advantage from that fact.

Next weekend at his home track of Adelaide International Raceway, local racer Tom Dimitropoulos will be doing all he can to snatch the 2017/2018 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series title for the Super Stock category.

Dimitropoulos is currently second on the points ladder, 40 points behind the leading Jim Ioannidis.

No less than four new national records punctuated last weekend’s MacTrack Westernationals, with Jim Ioannidis (C/MSA – 9.555s), Jamie Chaisty (H/MSA – 9.249s), Phill Paton (DD/CB – 8.344s) and John Althuizen (A/MR – 7.555s) all rewriting the record books.

The stage is set for a monumental Grand Final later this month (Adelaide International Raceway, March 23-24) following the conclusion of the penultimate round of the 2017/2018 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series at the Perth Motorplex.

Runners-up were Joel Trotman (DENSO Super Street), Trent Anthony (Modified Bike), George Tipouikidis (Super Sedan), Mark Grieve (Modified), Alby Bakranich (Top Sportsman), Jon Ferguson (Supercharged Outlaws) Jamie Chaisty (SuperStock), Stuart Moresby (Competition) and Phill Paton (Competition Bike).

Race day at the MacTrack Westernationals beckons with day one of what is the penultimate round of the 2017/2018 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series now complete at the Perth Motorplex.

By the close of proceedings today, Trent Morrison (Competition), Jim Ioannidis (Super Stock), Phill Paton (Competition Bike) and Adam Murrihy (Supercharged Outlaws) had each laid claim to Top Qualifier’s Medallions – sponsored by The Tile Co-The Shower People, KC Tools and Summit Racing.

While the race day line-ups in these brackets are now set, the DENSO Super Street, Modified Bike, Super Sedan, Modified and Top Sportsman competitors will have one more chance to take top qualifying glory tomorrow, with a final qualifying session scheduled for these classes from 1.00pm, ahead of the start of racing. Joel Trotman (10.094s/213.08kph - DENSO Super Street), Troy Thompson (8.268s/263.40kph - Modified Bike), Michael Konstandinou (8.620s/253.76kph - Super Sedan), Erin Healy (7.494s/284.31kph, Modified), and Darren Nichele (7.411s/300.57kph, Top Sportsman) currently lead the way in their respective fields.

West Australia’s Todd Stacy will be looking to overcome recent tyre shake issues when he competes in this weekend’s MacTrack Westernationals at his home track, the Perth Motorplex.

The event, which includes round eight of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series, will be held across Saturday March 3 and Sunday March 4.

The 31-year-old Fabricator from Forrestfield said that aside from the usual goals for a race weekend, overcoming recent challenges with the car was paramount.

Defending Super Sedan champion George Tipouikidis and his Holden HK Monaro will be well and truly on a mission at the upcoming MacTrack Westernationals at the Perth Motorplex (March 3 and 4).

The racer from Virginia in South Australia heads to the penultimate round of the 2017/2018 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series on 200 points and equal fourth on the ladder – 100 points shy of the points cap.

As the penultimate round of the 2017/2018 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series, the Perth Motorplex’s MacTrack Westernationals event (March 3 and 4) is attracting racers from all across the country.

For those based in the Eastern states, the journey to Perth is no small task, and so it is no surprise that racers often combine resources for their trips across the Nullarbor. This year, a contingent hailing from Melbourne and Adelaide have taken that idea to the next level, piling no less than five racing machines into the one Zauch Transport truck for the trip to the Westernats.
