Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series

Greg and Kim Clayton had no plans for drag racing during 2012. It was decided to put their supercharged altered Competition car away in the workshop and concentrate on business and family life for the year.

That was until a long overdue catch up meeting with an old friend to talk business, cars, life and whatever else turned into a new look BB/Altered, carrying new components and new corporate backing from Qld Tyre & Retreading (QTR) and Bridgestone Select Salisbury.

Seattle-based drag racer Brandon Huhtala will be adding an international flavour to Sydney Dragway next weekend when he competes in the Super Stock division of the Rocket Allstars Racing Series.

The Series brings together the best Australian talent in sportsman drag racing, but it is rare to see overseas drivers take part.

Australian Modified Bike Champion Daniel Sekli is quietly confident as he prepares to race in Modified Bike as part of the Rocket Allstars Racing Series at the Nitro Champs at Sydney Dragway.

Sekli’s first trip to Sydney saw a hiccup when the Queenslander’s Kawasaki ZX-10R suffered engine damage during a pre-race test but the loan of Rapid Bikes Magazine’s Yamaha XJR1300 allowed him to contest the meeting, even if it was at slightly slower pace than he’s used to.

After an engine rebuild by Powerhouse Dynotuning, Sekli took victory at the Willowbank round of the Rocket Allstars Racing Series in January aboard his own 1050cc Kawasaki.

Zachary Peirano was lucky to walk away unharmed from a 290kmh crash at Sydney Dragway over the weekend in his supercharged V8 dragster.

Peirano had just crossed the finish line and released his parachutes when some oil got underneath the tyres and sent his dragster on a wild ride.

Victorian drivers Jason Maggs and Darren Parker are among the many teams from around the nation making the tow to Sydney Dragway this weekend in the search for Rocket Allstars Racing Series points.

Maggs will be bringing his supercharged Corvette to race in Competition while Parker looks to build on a runner up spot at the Westernationals with his Super Stock Pontiac.Maggs has recently signed a new major sponsor in Speedflow, but the lead in to the event hasn’t been all positive for the 29 year old racer.

Queensland local Steven Ham will be making the 12 hour journey to Sydney Dragway next weekend to compete in round five of the Rocket Allstars Racing Series.

Ham has a bunch of RARS points to his credit but plans on using the Sydney meeting as a testing ground for the East Coast Lubes/Mobil 1 Top Alcohol Funny Car.

Super Stock’s over subscribed field will ensure dramatic battles across both qualifying and eliminations at the Westernationals this weekend.

Back on track for the first time in a while is Steve Flynn, at the wheel of Frank Salvo’s Camaro.

Flynn is one of the stalwarts of Super Stock but is yet to add a Westernationals victory to his list of achievements despite reaching three finals in seven attempts.

Some national records could be set to fall in the Modified division this weekend in Perth at the running of the Rocket Allstars Racing Series at the Westernationals.

Rhett Cooper-Fowle and Ian Forrest have both been using six cylinder motors in preference to V8 combinations and are now eyeing off marks in the B/MA and B/MD classes respectively.

Victorian Darren Parker is readying to join a strong field of Super Stock competitors at the Westernationals at Perth Motorplex on March 3 and 4.

Parker has a successful past at Perth, having won in Super Sedan in 2007.

This time his Jerry Hass-built Pontiac GXP will be doing battle against 16 other teams, many of whom are capable of setting national records.

Junior Dragster driver Brayden Naylor will be shaving off his famous locks of hair to raise money for the Leukaemia Association’s World’s Greatest Shave. Brayden’s hair is instantly recognisable at Perth Motorplex but the 12 year old racer is now…

There’s a big shipping container holding a barrage of fast motorbikes set to be unleashed at Perth Motorplex on March 3 and 4 in the fourth round of the Rocket Allstars Racing Series.

Ten Queensland and New South Wales based teams have managed to squeeze in for the journey across the Nullarbor where they will compete at the Westernationals.

The Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series points were last updated 17 July 2018, after round two of the 18/19 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series: the Desert Nationals at the Alice Springs Inland Dragway. If you have any queries in regards…
In what may be one of the more unique drag races in history, two of Australia's safest and greenest school buses will match up on Saturday at Willowbank Raceway.

Southern Cross Transit director Frank Oliveri said the sChOOL BUS Challenge will show off the performance of the buses along with their green credentials and safety.

Park Ridge drag racer Mark Davison is entering the Rocket Allstars Racing Series this weekend at Willowbank Raceway with a new weapon.

Davison will be debuting a supercharged ride in the Competition category and is hoping that chasing a new national record will help the team get over a series of mechanical dramas.

When Tammy Goldthorpe is on her delivery run for Australia Post, you can rest assured that she will never be late.

Goldthorpe is a past track champion in the Modified Bike division at Willowbank Raceway and is also the current points leader.

She will be competing on Saturday, January 21 at the Rocket Allstars Racing Series event where teams from across Australia are coming to compete for national points.
