Zappia on winning streak.

Four times Top Doorslammer champion John Zappia’s preparation for the ANDRA Pro Series Top Doorslammer championship round at the Westernationals in Perth has continued successfully as he claimed a win in the Slamfest series in Tasmania.

Zappia’s eighth mile performances in the Procomp Motorsport Monaro reached a best of 4.07 on the new surface at the ANDRA-sanctioned Powranna facility and along with the rest of the Top Doorslammer field has been learning a lot about getting down regional race tracks and having plenty of fun.

“The new concrete start line and track preparation by Pro Modified Australia’s tyre machine was excellent and by the end of the day’s racing our data showed us we were still soft on the tune up given the conditions,” Zappia said.

Zappia’s start to the ANDRA Pro Series season hasn’t been perfect, with Peter Kapiris taking two wins from two events so far, but the Perth leg may with its valuable bonus points may be the opportunity Zappia needs to return to the lead.

“We head back to Perth now to prepare for the Westernationals – the next round of the ANDRA Pro Series. It’s the biggest meeting in the Perth Motorplex calendar and we are keen to build on our recent winning ways.”

It wasn’t all good news for the Top Doorslammers however with Maurice Fabietti involved in an unusual incident when he got caught up in Tony De Felice’s parachutes, rolling the Holden Trade Club Monaro.

The teams are now heading across the Nullarbor to Western Australia, where they will join ANDRA Pro Series Pro Stock to compete for championship points on March 3 and 4.
