The interim list of entrants has been released for the biggest event on the West Australian calendar to be held February 28 – March 2, 2014.
Current Top Fuel ANDRA Drag Racing Series champion Darren Morgan will be making the trek to Perth Motorplex for the 43rd Westernationals.
DMR will take on Phil Lamattina, Martin Stamatis, Mark Sheehan and Rapisarda Autosport’s Damien Harris and Allan Dobson.
“We’re looking forward to putting on a show for our West Australian fans and want to thank Top Fuel Australia, K-Trans, Victorian American Imports, American Truckworks, Royal Asphalt and Shannons Insurance for making it happen,” said Morgan.
Top Doorslammer is also shaping up to be another stellar 17 car field as Top Alcohol champion Gary Phillips is bringing his Doorslammer to take on fellow Queenslanders Victor and Ben Bray, Russ Pavey and Pro Showdown winner Stuart Bishop.
They join many of the strong teams seen at the Pro Showdown for round one of the title dogfight including defending Westernationals champ Peter Kapiris, six time Top Doorslammer champion John Zappia, Andrew Sutton, Maurice Fabietti and a host of locals led by Murray O’Connor, Pino Priolo and Daniel Gregorini.
Competition Eliminator boasts an all-West Aussie 17 car field headlined by Top Alcohol’s young gun Shane Weston, Rob Pilkington and Adam Marchant.
Competition Bike meanwhile will see the return of Top Fuel Motorcycle’s Jay Upton along with Mark Drew, Ian Ashelford, Greg Durack and Kevin Gummow trying to wrest the Westernationals title away from two-time champ Ross Smith in Competition Bike.
All in all 212 competitors will be on show at the 43rd Westernationals across 11 classes in the ANDRA Drag Racing Series and Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship.
