Until recently, Daryn Schuster didn’t even know he was the owner of the Competition Bike D/AB mph record at the X-Champs.
Instead, Schuster was more concerned about his ETs and the red light that ended his campaign in the final than the 157.43 mph he had already set.
“Considering my times were slower than usual, I wasn’t even thinking about the records,” he said. “I was just concentrating on making the finals.”
Unaware of the record going into the final, Schuster prepared to put up a good light against Blair Pennington but he was .052 too soon resulting in a red.
Even so, Schuster is very happy with how the X-Champs played out for his team with the record just the icing on the cake.
“Now knowing this (about the record), it makes the weekend even more successful and I have to thank Powerhouse Dyno Tuning for all the hard work in setting up the bike.”
“I love coming to Sydney to race, it’s one of my favourite tracks and it’s always good to catch up with other racers I have met over the years, we always have a good time.”
“I was very happy with the bike, it ran smooth but I just couldn’t get the wheelies to disappear over the weekend.”
“Overall it was a very successful weekend for Powerhouse with Blair Pennington taking Gold, myself as runner up and a new record for Comp Bike, we are very happy with the results.”
Attention now turns to the FUCHS Winternationals staged at Schuster’s home venue of Willowbank Raceway where he is confident the Suzuki can go even faster.
“The bike is capable and has gone quite a bit faster in mph and ET. This meeting due to the well prepped track, we just had a bit too much clutch and couldn’t quite get it sorted over the weekend.”
“Hopefully the Winters will be a different story on my home track.”
The FUCHS Winternationals will be held across the Queen’s Birthday long weekend (Thursday 5 June to Sunday 8 June 2014), with up to 500 racers expected from all across the country to compete in front of approximately 30,000 spectators across the four days.
