Larry Dixon met with media this morning in Brisbane ahead of this weekend’s Santo’s Cranes Super 3 Extreme Drag Race at Willowbank Raceway, taking time out from his busy preparation.
Dixon said he was full of pride to be able to represent Rapisarda Autosport International in Australia after flying the flag for the team in the United States.
“It makes you very proud, we have the Australian flag in our logo along with the United States one,” he said. “(Rapisarda Autosport International) is the only team that has teams in Australia as well as the United States.”
Along with Dixon is his entourage, consisting primarily of his family (wife Allison, daughter Alanna and sons Donovan and Darien), and crew chief Lee Beard.
“It’s no different than when Michael Schumacher came over to Ferrari, he bought all his people over so there was some comfort there and we’ve got the same thing,” he said. “Lee has won a tremendous amount of races and championships in NHRA competition.”
Dixon urged fans to come to Willowbank Raceway and see Top Fuel live.
“You go from zero to 530kmh in a matter of four and a half seconds so it’s quite exciting,” he said. “It’s something that if you’ve never seen it live, you need to do your best to come out there this weekend to see it.”
