Thanks to the weekend’s results, currently leading the championship points are Kiah Curling (Diamond T Products Junior Dragster), Richie Paterson (QLD Nameplate Group Modified Bike), Laurie Bonato (John William Auto Sales Super Street), Darren Doeblien (JP Racing Super Sedan), Athol Jacobsen (RD William Excavator Parts Modified) and Loughlin Boyde (F G Loy & Sons Earthmoving Classic).
Queensland Street Car Magazine Eighth Mile Drag Racing Series Event Organiser John Winterburn said he was pleased at the continuing support of racers for the series, which is in its second year.
“We had more than 120 racers here at Warwick Dragway at the weekend and the atmosphere was just great,” said Winterburn.
“This series is all about laid-back fun racing, and I am so pleased to see that with every event that we run, that feeling is just growing and growing.
“While its laid-back, there has also been some great competitive racing action on track, and I can’t wait to see how this season continues to pan out with some tight points chases already in action with two rounds left to run.”
The Queensland Street Car Magazine Eighth Mile Series includes rounds of racing plus a Grand Finale, hosted by each track on a rotational basis year by year.
Round three will take place at Benaraby Dragway on the 9th of July followed by the Grand Finale at Ironbark Raceway on the 24th of September 2011.
Special winner and runner-up trophies will be available for each bracket at each round, with the Grand Finale to see a special winner trophy plus $750 prizemoney awarded to the highest point score of each bracket, and a special runner-up trophy and $250 prize money to go to the second highest point scorer of each bracket.
