As the final round of the 2018/2019 Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series, a lot of the fanfare around the recent ANDRA Grand Finals event at the Perth Motorplex (April 6/7) understandably centred on those taking out the ANDRA Gold Christmas Tree championship trophies.

The title winners weren’t the only ones turning heads across the two-day event however, with the pursuit of event victories just as hotly contested over the two days as the championship battles.

Taking out the ANDRA Grand Final event trophies were Chris Moore (Modified Bike), Kirstie Wroe (Super Street), Martin Mirco (Super Sedan), Adam Mundy (Modified), Paul Stephen (Supercharged Outlaws), Jason Arbery (Top Sportsman), Brett Ghedina (Competition Bike), Todd Stacy (Super Stock) and Kyle Putland (Competition).

The arms of Mirco, Mundy, Stephen and Arbery may have been exceptionally full with championship accolades also claimed on the night, but the smiles of the rest of the event winners were just as wide with no event victory ever coming easy in the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series.

Chris Moore – Modified Bike ANDRA Grand Final event winner

“The bike went absolutely perfect, yesterday it went really well…and today it went absolutely perfect – the numbers were perfect and it went through eliminations and did everything we wanted it to do,” Moore said at the presentations.

Kirstie Wroe – Super Street ANDRA Grand Final event winner

“It was a very good meet – well done to all the track staff and everyone behind the scenes who organised it; thank you, we couldn’t do it without you. The car was good, I was really impressed. We have a great set up, in our team we run around like headless chickens with three cars in two different classes but we make it work and we couldn’t do it without all the help of our crew.”

Todd Stacy – Super Stock ANDRA Grand Final event winner and Sunoco 260GT Plus Top Qualifier

“We had a great weekend at the ANDRA Grand Finals. We made the switch to RR/GAS and it went far better than expected: we qualified number one with a 7.594s which was 1.086s under the index for RR/GAS and went through to win the event. We have left this meet with our first Gold Tree, reset the national record to 7.876, reset the track record to 7.594 and 179.32mph which is a PB for this setup. Thanks to everyone involved as I can’t do this without you guys.”

Kyle Putland – Competition ANDRA Grand Final event winner and Top Qualifier Medallion recipient – thanks to TileCo-TheShowerPeople and KC Tools.

“The last two years of working on the altered has been a battle but we have really found it in the last couple of weeks and had some great help around, thank you to everyone that helped. The quarter mile drag race experience as well has taken so much time out of our work schedule, our racing schedule, so thank you to everyone behind that.”
