Drag racers have long known the thrill of speeding down the quarter mile in their high powered machines.
Now, those participating in Test n Tune events have the opportunity to share that experience with friends, family, or even their significant other, thanks to Willowbank Raceway.
The Ipswich facility has announced ‘Extreme Rides’, the chance for drag racers at Test and Tune Drag Racing events at Queensland’s premier drag racing facility to take passengers 18 years and over along for the ride for a small fee.
Willowbank Raceway Managing Director Steve Bettes said he was excited about the new service the track is now able to offer patrons.
“Willowbank Raceway is really pleased to be able to offer this chance to our Test and Tune drag racers,” said Willowbank.
“A lot of our racers spend a lot of time, effort and money on their beloved machines, so I think its great that they will now be able to share the joy that they get out of it with the people close to them.
“In the case of wives, husbands, boyfriends and girlfriends, maybe it will earn them a little bit of understanding for their passion,” he laughed.
The ‘Extreme Rides’ passenger rides will be available at Test N Tunes only, passengers must be 18 years old as a minimum with the cost to be $20 per passenger. Passengers must have long pants, a long sleeves shirt, closed-in shoes and a helmet. All vehichles with a passenger must have a seat, seatbelt/harness and windows must be closed and all vehicles must run slower than 11.99 seconds (1/4 mile distance) to be eligible.

Willowbank Raceway is Queensland’s premier drag racing facility and hosts four major drag racing events each year – the two-round New Year Series in January, the Australian Top Fuel Championships in March and the Castrol EDGE Winternationals in June. The Queen’s Birthday event is the largest drag racing event outside of the US and is the season finale for the ANDRA Pro Series calendar.
