After the traditional wet season break, plenty of teams are eager to dust off their race suits and get down the track in what will be the first competition round of 2015.
This Saturday’s Track Championship series kicks off the 30th year of drag racing at Hidden Valley.
Plenty of Darwin’s fastest cars will be geared up to score their championship points in the hope of getting the lead in the first round.
Hidden Valley’s very own president Scott MacLean has been working hard with his crew to get the MacLean Motorsports Top Alcohol Funny Car ready for this year.
“We have been working hard in the off season to freshen up the motor and give this car a brand new look for 2015’’. said MacLean
A number of new cars across all brackets are expected to be coming out this season, one of those is from the youngest of Darwin’s racers, Darcy Muller in her new Junior Dragster.
Also helping to celebrate this season opener is the wheel standing madness of the Aussie Bandit Ute – a 1700 Horsepower Supercharged Methanol injected big block Chevy mounted in the back of the Holden Commodore Ute, with a sound that has to be heard and fire shows that ignites the sky.
Not the be missed lighting up the Cairns Industries Colosseum will be tyre frying burnouts from North Queensland Pro burnout Winner, Kandos top 10 and 4 time Cairns burnout comp winner Colin Wolfe in SMK SHW. This car also took out second at Darwin’s NT Titles in 2013 so he is no stranger to the Valley.
Gates open 1:30pm with qualifying throughout the afternoon and feature racing kicking off at 6pm. Adults are $20, kids under 13 are free.
