Former ANDRA Top Fuel Champion Phil Lamattina is looking to take back his title and the Victorian farmer believes that Adelaide’s Fuchs Springnationals will be the make or break event for the team’s 2014 title tilt.
“We are closely locked in a points battle with Dobbo (Allan Dobson) and Damien Harris,” explained Lamattina.
“Both of those Santo’s Cranes cars will be hard to beat but our second Fuchs car will be on the pace too, no doubt about that.”
Phil’s younger brother John will again drive the second LTFR dragster.
“There are four (Top Fuel) cars that are locked in and they are probably the four quickest and fastest in the country at the moment, so whoever takes the win will have earned it!”
LTFR also competed at Mildura recently as a part of the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship round held at the track closest to the Lamattina family farm.
“Mildura was great,” added Phil.
“We tried a few new things and we think that we have found some tricks to go even better in Adelaide. It was also unique having so many friends and family at the racetrack!”
Although not a local round, Lamattina will again have family around him in Adelaide.
“We’ll have the whole family there, with my brother racing as well as my son, Rocky.
“Hopefully we can bring home some silverware for the Lamattina trophy cabinet.”
The Fuchs Spring Nationals will be two days of high-octane Championship Drag Racing action featuring Top Fuel, Top Doorslammer, Pro Stock Motorcycle and the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship this Saturday and Sunday October 4-5, 2014 at Adelaide International Raceway.
