After an incredable showing at their first NHRA in Las Vega's by qualifying 15th out of 26 to make a field of 16, then to stop Cory McClenathan's championship hunt by beating him in eliminations, Rapisarda Racing's Mark Mariana definatly had everyone talking.
Commentators even sought odds on an “All Australian Final” due to Mark and “Aussie Dave” Grubic on oppisite sides of the field and the only way they could match up would be in the final. Unfortunatly Mark was out in round two and Grubnic was eliminated in the Semi Finals by eventual event winner Tony Schumacher. Schumacher now heads to Pomona only trailing championship leader Larry Dixon by 85 points.
