When Kasey McClure lines up for the 50th Goldenstates at the Perth Motorplex this coming Friday and Saturday, she will have the chance to take a truly impressive fourth consecutive victory at the prestigious event.
The November 22/23 event marks the latest round in the 2024/2025 ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship, and will see a full field of highly competitive sportsman racers taking to the WA venue alongside Top Doorslammers and Top Fuel Motorcycles.
With a long list of impressive drag racing results over the last few years, including two Westernationals victories (2023 and 2024), three Goldenstates wins (2021, 2022 and 2023) and back-to-back WA Drag Racing Championships (2022/2023 and 2023/2024), the youngest of the well known McClure racing family certainly has plenty of form behind her as she gets ready to go for four-straight.
“It was great to be able to challenge for two in a row, let alone to now be in a position to go for four!” said McClure, who will be competing in the Huntsman Racing-sponsored Supercharged Outlaws bracket.
“We are excited to try and keep the streak alive.
“We haven’t made any major changes in preparation – if it is not broke, don’t fix it – but we have been honing in on our dial-ins and also the consistency of the car.
“Having such a consistent car which I can rely on is a big part of my success. Having that reliability allows me to fully focus on my job of driving the car.
“As a team we always come into every event feeling confident, and we have a great package regardless of what event it is, but it is definitely already surreal to have three in a row, so to make it four would be incredible.”
The 20-year-old from Serpentine in WA is quick to point out the role of her family and team in her success.
“Having the people I have to guide me through my racing has been a huge part of why I have been able to achieve what I have so far – my dad (Al), my mum (Natalie) and my brothers (Connor and Bailey) have all helped me to build my knowledge and race craft to what it is and that guidance has been so important,” she said.
“We run two cars at every event in Perth and I am so proud to be a part of our family team – what we have been able to achieve is a credit to our family and shows the dedication to the sport we have had for more than 30 years.”
As local racers, the Goldenstates and Westernationals are key dates on the McClure calendar.
“We love these two national events which we get to experience every year,” Kasey said.
“They bring out the toughest racing every time, and we can’t wait to get there.
“As we get ready to try for the big 4, I want to say thank you to my family and crew – Dad, Mum, Connor, Bailey, Jayde, Brad and Troy – and also to the Perth Motorplex track staff who support me and give me a fantastic track to race at.”
