The AEG Powertools Darren Morgan Racing (DMR) Top Fuel Dragster will return to Sydney Dragway this weekend hoping to continue where he left off at the Australian Nationals. After emerging victorious at their last outing Team Driver.
Darren Morgan enters the second ANDRA Pro Series event at the top of the point standings but with a field of 9 Top Fuel cars entered Morgan knows it is going to be a tough battle.
“We are looking to maintain the consistency that took us to victory at the Nationals. The track conditions are looking very good and we are eager to lay down some more strong numbers this weekend. The Team are really excited heading into this round and we are all looking to extend our championship lead. Winning the Nationals was a big boost for our championship aspirations and a great win for AEG Powertools and we are looking to further build on that success this weekend” commented Team Owner and Driver Darren Morgan.
Since they were victorious at the opening round of the 2010/11 ANDRA Top Fuel Championship the team has made several changes to their engine combination in an attempt to fix the problems that plagued them at the Nationals. “We found some problems after the Nationals and we are confident we will have the AEG Powertools Dragster on song for the first qualifier on Saturday. We have put together 4 new engines along with a large arsenal of spares. When you consider the work we have done to the car along with the promotional events we have attended it has been a very busy 7 weeks for the team” added Car Chief Ben Patterson.
The promotional events Ben was referring to included a Bunnings Trade Centre launch at Pakenham in Victoria along with a visit to their local Show in Mildura. The event at the Bunnings Trade Centre was a very successful evening with AEG and Bunnings being very impressed with DMR and their professionalism. For the remainder of the weekend the bright orange AEG machine was on display at the Mildura Show with Darren delighting the patrons on hand with a start-up on Saturday night.
The DMR team will be doing a promotional event for Kennards Hire on Friday Morning before heading to the track to setup and prepare in the afternoon.
The event this weekend at the Sydney Dragway incorporates Round 2 of the Top Fuel and Top Alcohol Championship as well as round 3 of the NSW Track Championship.
