The Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) is pleased to announce a new backer for the ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship’s Top Qualifier Medallion Award, ahead of this weekend’s season start.

New Gen Business Park (NGBP) has been announced as the new partner for the award, with competitors to compete for the Top Qualifier Medallion, presented by New Gen Business Park, starting at the Desert Nationals at Alice Springs Inland Dragway (August 24-25).

NGBP is a 70 hectare master-planned estate, suitable for tenants and owner occupiers and well suited for large format logistics operators and advanced manufacturers. In an Australian first, it was recently awarded certification under the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s EnviroDevelopment scheme across all six leaves – Ecosystems, Waste, Energy, Materials, Water and Community – providing independent verification of the project’s sustainability performance.

The Park, which is being developed by record-breaking former Top Fuel Motorcycle champion, Chris Matheson, in conjunction with national development group EMKC Cubed, is located in the suburb of Swanbank – 45 kilometres south-west of the Brisbane CBD and six kilometres south-east of Ipswich Central.

“We see this new estate as a benchmark in the growing trend for end users seeking to be located in a sustainable precinct for building development,” said Matheson, an eight-time national drag racing champion and record setter – including being the first Top Fuel Motorcycle rider in the Southern Hemisphere to run a five second pass in 2023.

“Likewise, the Top Qualifier Award is a coveted benchmark of performance within ANDRA drag racing, and so we feel that the partnership between New Gen Business Park and this prestigious accolade makes perfect sense.

“As a long-time motorsport competitor across various forms, including drag racing in Top Fuel Motorcycle, I appreciate how much of an achievement it is to be a Top Qualifier and how important it can be in setting the standard for racing at an event.

“NGBP is proud to support the sport of drag racing in Australia and looks forward to seeing the competitors of the ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship striving to achieve winning performance, starting with qualifying number one.”

NGBP is taking over the sponsorship of the Top Qualifier Medallion from previous award partner Decoglaze Glass Splashbacks – which is headed up by ANDRA’s most successful sportsman competitor, Craig Geddes’ – following a restructure of Decoglaze’s national parent company.

“We are very pleased to welcome New Gen Business Park to the ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship,” ANDRA Chief Executive Officer, Tim McAvaney, said.

“The Top Qualifier Medallion, presented by New Gen Business Park, is a highly sought after honour, and there is a lot of excitement about it making its return as part of our new series.

“Chris’s drag racing credentials are unquestionable, and we are very proud to have his support as we launch this new Championship this weekend.

“At the same time, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Decoglaze Glass Splashbacks and Craig Geddes, for their long-running support of ANDRA drag racing.

“While we are sad to see them step away from this Award due to the restructure of the national parent company, we look forward to continuing to see Craig racing within our series as he attempts to add even more success to his current tally of nine national titles.”
