An inaugural Tasmanian record has been set for Electric Vehicles over the 1/8 mile on 29 August 2015.
Christopher Walkden in his 70kw all electric Subaru Brumby set the record of 12.377 seconds.
“Other competitors were very interested in the engineering in this car that plugs into a 10 amp powerpoint when back in the pits,” said John Hanely.
“We also look forward to the first Tesla on track to shake up the street car class. With encouragement from Chris and other members of the AEVA (Australian Electric Vehicle Association) in Tasmania we hope to have a regular class for electric cars into the future. With nearly all electricity in Tasmania generated from renewable sources (hydro, wind and solar) this is a direction that should be well supported.”
