As the final hours tick down to tomorrow’s kick off of the Santo’s Super 3 Extreme Drag Race presented by Uplift Cranes and Titan Cranes (18-19 April), Sydney’s Peter Xiberras is preparing for his Top Fuel debut.
Xiberras and his locally based team were on track at Willowbank yesterday (Wednesday) completing part of the licensing process ahead of the Good Friday and Easter Saturday event.
If he can be successful in completing his licensing requirements during qualifying Friday, Xiberras will be making his official competitive Top Fuel debut during Willowbank Raceway’s Easter festivities.
“After a successful day on Wednesday we are all set to attempt to complete our licensing at the Easter event at Willowbank Raceway, we will be doing our best to get that under our belt so we can compete in this exciting event,” said the 46 year old Xiberras.
Xiberras comes to Top Fuel drag racing following past experience in Super Sedan and Supercharged Outlaws.
“I was looking for a transporter and was talking to a guy who was getting out of the category about one he was getting rid of, and it ended up that I came home with the whole thing!” laughed Xiberras, whose outfit is supported by a range of sponsors including PremiAir Hire and Sidchrome.
“It is a great category and we can’t wait to be competing with these guys – once we have some time under our belt I am sure we can be as competitive as anyone else.
“We aren’t much for talk, we prefer to let the car do the talking, and we are confident that in not too long we will be up there running with everyone else.”
The Santo’s Super 3 Extreme Drag Race, presented by Uplift Cranes and Titan Cranes, will come to Willowbank Raceway for Good Friday (April 18) and Easter Saturday (April 19) in 2014.
