Roma racer Rita Carney will be racing against time to be on-track this weekend for the Summit Racing Queensland Championship at her home track, Ironbark Raceway.

Carney competed in her Gemini at the track’s home championship event last weekend, breaking a tail shaft in the process. Now, she waits to see if she can get a replacement in time to compete in this weekend’s finale event on Saturday, November 4.

“I am really hoping we will be there for the Summit Racing QLD Championship finale at my home track,” Rita said.

“Hopefully a new tail shaft will be here in time, or we can repair the broken one – we are in the middle of figuring it out. We will be doing all we can to be on-track come Saturday!

“No matter what happens, I would like to thank Summit for sponsoring the event, ANDRA, and all of the volunteers for their ongoing work and effort towards Ironbark Raceway, a lot of which goes unseen behind the scenes. Without all of the volunteers we wouldn’t be able to go racing.

“I would also like to welcome all the other competitors to Ironbark Raceway for this third and final round of the Summit Racing QLD Championship – I hope everyone has an awesome day, lots of fun, and safe travels to and from the event.”

Rita is currently fourth in the Street championship standings for the championship.

“After round one at Palmyra I was coming equal third with two others, and then following the second round at Benaraby Raceway I am now in fourth,” she explained.

“My little Gemini has not been running as it once was, but we are working hard on different things to try and change that.

“It used to run very consistently, so hopefully we can get it back to where it was this weekend.

“Aside from hopefully making some improvements in that regard, it will come down to staying focussed on my own driving and watching my own lights, and just doing our best come race day.”

Ironbark Raceway will host the final round of the 2017 Summit Racing QLD Championships on Saturday, November 4. Racing from the Supercharged Outlaws, Modified, Super Sedan, Super Street, Modified Bike, Junior Dragster, Super Gas and Street brackets will feature.
