Top Bike troubles hold Parker back.
Phil Parker found himself frustrated by small mechanical issues in round two of the ANDRA Pro Series in Perth recently.
The Top Bike rider went out in the semi finals as he could not quite get on top of a nagging pressure problem for his gearbox.
“We attempted four passes and did not get second gear on three occasions and the one time we did we burned the clutch out,” he said. “The gearbox problem was purely caused by the loss of CO2 pressure due to some air line problems.
“The nylon lines did not like the increased pressure that we were running and we lost two cylinders of CO2. These are being replaced with braided lines and will not be an issue again.”
Parker was still able to take some positives away, with his nitro-fuelled motorcycle at least leaving the track in one piece.
“The good news from the Parker Racing camp was that we came home with a motor that appears to be happy and in excellent condition,” he said. “I will get the motor out and drop the crank out in the next couple of weeks to be sure but the leakdowns are excellent.”
The Victorian-based team plans on doing some testing and match racing around their home state in preparation for the next round of the ANDRA Pro Series in May.
