The publisher of CompetitionPlus.com – Bobby Bennett – will be in Australia for the 44th Castrol EDGE Winternationals – adding a further international element to the event – which already includes NHRA superstar, Cory McClenathan.
Fresh from the NHRA event at Englishtown, Bennett will jet into Willowbank ready for the largest drag racing event outside North America – and he means business:
“Our staff plans to cover this event in the same fashion we do with the NHRA and ADRL races back home – and that is, leave no story untold, fair and balanced,” Bennett said from his American base today.
CompetitionPlus.com first went online in September 1999 – and was one of the first of its type – an electronic drag racing magazine. It became a fortnightly then weekly, before in 2004 it became a daily source of news and information for drag racing competitors and fans.
Currently, the site is attracting 785,000 unique visitors monthly.
Bennett’s attendance at the event confirms the Castrol EDGE Winternationals as the largest event of its type outside of North America and really shows the esteem that event is held in the world of drag racing – particularly given it is the middle of the NHRA season.
The influential journalist – who was frantically packing to head to Australia – is psyched for his trip downunder:
“I am looking forward to this and can’t wait to take in every experience the Castrol EDGE Winternationals has to offer,” Bennett said. “I’ve always admired the tremendous hard work the Australians put into their drag racing and it will be great to visit a country where drag racing is truly appreciated by the average citizen.
“A big thanks goes to Victor Bray and the folks at Castrol for making this happen. We in the States dream of coming to Australia just to visit, but to visit and cover a drag race? Does it really get any better than that?”
Willowbank Raceway and all of the competitors at the 44th Castrol EDGE Winternationals will extend a huge Aussie G’day to Bobby and the CompetitionPlus.com team and trust that his stay is an enjoyable one.
“It’s fantastic that we can welcome Bobby Bennett and CompetitionPlus.com to the Castrol EDGE Winternationals,” said Willowbank Raceway Managing Director Steve Bettes. “We’ll be rolling out the red carpet and showing him drag racing, Aussie style.
“We really hope that all of the competitors will use the opportunity of having Bobby on hand to spread the message of ANDRA Pro Series drag racing throughout the world.”
