Well it has to be said we have been pretty lucky when it comes to our drag racing track championship and the weather, but Mother Nature had some other ideas on April 11.
It was a stop and start kind of day as the rain came down, the track was dried and the racing begun – before a case of wash, rinse, repeat!
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Perth Motorplex track team and our racers hustling through the staging lanes we were able to make it as far as the first round of eliminations for some brackets but for the majority it was all over after qualifying.
The track crew bravely tried to get the track up to racing spec after another shower after 5pm but with the sun going down and the heat coming out of the track drying was much more difficult and eventually the hard call had to be made to cancel the event.
Alesha Adamos left with the Modified championship, as the building confrontation with Michelle Osborn and Sam Treasure failed to eventuate.
With his round one win in Super Sedan, Martin Mirco had the Super Sedan championship wrapped up regardless of if the event had gone on.
Brett Allen scored his first Modified Bike championship on his Suzuki Katana.
Spectators who purchased tickets can get in touch with the Motorplex office on ticketing@motorplex.com.au to organise a credit for future events.
While the track championship season is now over, there is still some great drag racing events coming up including the Nostalgias and Kwinana Performance Holden v Ford.
