Victoria’s Wayne Price will debut his new Top Alcohol Funny Car next month at the largest championship drag racing event held outside of North America – the Fuchs Winternationals (June 4-7, Willowbank Raceway).

In 2005 Price’s team was rocked by the disappointing theft of their new Mercury race car, and since then have been competing in an 18-year old second-hand Funny Car. Now the Melbournian baker will step into a brand new race car powered by a 2014 PSI and JBR injected engine which has completed only 20 passes down the drag strip.

Price was planning on ‘taking the covers off’ his new Steed at the Nitro Champs event in Sydney, however poor weather saw that event unfortunately cancelled.

“It was disappointing of course to not be able to test and race at the Nitro Champs, but what better place is there to make a debut than the biggest event on the calendar?” said Price.

“We are very excited to see what we can do, especially as we were able to run a Personal Best of 5.63 seconds at 257 miles per hour in a chassis that had a lot less flex and an older-style PSI than this combination will have to offer.

“I have to thank Richard Botica for supplying the chassis and also my crew chief Trevor Horwood for building an outstanding car – we can’t wait to get on-track at the Fuchs Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway this June, it is the perfect place to see what she can do!”

The Fuchs Winternationals will be held at Willowbank Raceway in Queensland across Thursday June 4 to Sunday June 7. For event information, visit www.willowbankraceway.com.au.
