Dannolas Racing pilot Rhiannon Allison is the youngest competitor and one of two females in the Supercharged Outlaws field this weekend at the 43rd Westernationals.
Allison began racing in Junior Dragster from 2006 to 2010 and it’s a testament to her ability and potential that the likes of Hi-Tec Oils, S&K Mine Services, 60foot Clothing, Fine line Upholstery, Galloway Engines, Newby Engineering and CCR Hose and Fittings have jumped on the bandwagon allowing the youngster to make deep inroads during her short career so far.
Rising to the senior ranks by way of crew chief for her Dad, Craig Allison, the two have now switched roles as her father returns the favour.
“When we relocated to Perth from Sydney (in 2012) I became very involved in racing and starting calling all the shots for the Dannolas Racing team,” she said.
“I was Dad’s crew chief for one and a half seasons. In the 2012-13 season Dad finished runner up in the WA track championship.”
Rhiannon not only drives but takes on much of the maintenance on race day and behind the scenes as well. She said starting from the bottom has helped her to learn a lot about the sport while crewing for her father has taught her about the car top to bottom.
“I have learnt a lot about the car since being in the driver’s seat and racing with the big boys. It’s been a great season for my Dad with the tuning side of things.”
“He is doing an awesome job running consistent day in day out and if we crack a PB we can back it up which is showing great results in points.”
This will be her first Westernationals in the senior ranks and the team are coming off a great night testing on Wednesday setting their second best mph and running 1.001 over 60ft.
“The crew and I are excited to be competing this weekend and with running fourth in the WA Supercharged Outlaws track championship we have high hopes and great confidence for this weekend.”
